The CD from the cycle of concertos by Krzysztof Penderecki conducted by the composer himself.
Album contains concertos for the instruments most rarely used – piano and trumpet, interpreted by young and promising Polish virtuosos. Concertino for trumpet and orchestra is one of the newest works by the composer (2015) – presented interpretation is the second studio recording of this piece. Dedicated to the Hungarian virtuoso Gábor Boldoczki, technically demanding Concertino contains volatile lirycal passages as well as performative elements – it is not only a virtuoso piece. So is the sublime, dramatic concerto for piano and orchestra “Resurrection” which was inspired by the 9th of September 20001 events. A different character is presented in the meditative Double concerto for violin and cello. Full of classical references, it is a creative transcription of the Double concerto for violin and viola.
